Practicing Martial Arts

LET'S PLAAY

VOICE, RESILIENCE, SELF-REGULATION,

SELF-ESTEEM, POSITIVE MINDSET

Preventing Long-term Anger and Aggression in Youth (PLAAY) is a culturally relevant program founded by Dr. Howard Stevenson at University of Pennsylvania.

Luminosity has adapted PLAAY to meet the needs of our community. This mind and body-based group intervention uses martial arts to build resilience in multilingual, multicultural youth. The program reduces trauma response and builds coping skills through athletics and cultural activities. It also focuses on empowerment through martial arts and the significance of rites of passage.

Enrollment is free. Uniforms and other equipment will be provided.

Registration is open for ages 8 and above.

For the second year in a row, we are pleased to share that the program is partially funded by the 2023 Brockton Shannon Project for Community Safety Initiative.
